Our Most Important Ambassadors
FIRST alumni are proof of the impact of FIRST
Participants and alumni of FIRST® programs gain access to education and career discovery opportunities, connections to exclusive scholarships and employers, and a place in the FIRST community for life.
FIRST Alumni Groups
One of the most fun and organized ways FIRST Alumni come together are via structured alumni groups. Regional Groups are generally affiliated with an identified FIRST territory or region and are often led or supported by the local FIRST organization. Collegiate Groups are usually a grass-roots effort led by a FIRST Alum to create a chapter at their respective school and bring together other FIRST alumni on campus.
FIRST Alumni Groups serve multiple purposes, including — but not limited to —a friend group with a common bond, a peer-to-peer networking circle, an organized method to assist/mentor local FIRST teams, and a platform to volunteer at FIRST events.
Alumni Ambassador Program
The FIRST Chesapeake Alumni Ambassador Program provides a platform for former participants to stay connected with the FIRST community, continue their involvement in STEM, and contribute to the mission of inspiring young people to pursue careers in science and technology.
If all of the program requirements are met, a team of your choice located within the FIRST Chesapeake District will be awarded with a $1000 grant.
The application period closes on Mon. Sept. 30 at 11:59 pm.
Attend mandatory orientation meeting on Tues. Oct. 15 at 7pm and Complete at least one additional professional development training.

Graduation & FIRST Signing Day
FIRST celebrates graduation each year with FIRST Signing Day. This year's celebrations will take place on May 20, 2025.
FIRST Signing Day was developed by FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2468 and adopted globally by FIRST to recognize and celebrate graduating students and their next steps after high school.
There are two main ways individuals and teams can participate in FIRST Signing Day:
-
Posting on social media with the hashtag #FIRSTSigningDay celebrating and recognizing graduates and their next steps
-
Host an in-person Signing Day event
Additional resources available soon.
Graduation Cords
The guidelines outlined below are established as a standard requirement for FIRST graduation cords. It's important to understand that the criteria listed are optional and can be adopted by teams as needed to award Graduation Cords. Any high school student actively involved in FIRST is eligible to participate. The responsibility for acquiring and distributing cords lies with the teams or organizations, and this process should be managed internally.
To wear a FIRST Graduation Cord, a student should:
-
be a contributing member of a high school FIRST team for at least one academic year,
-
be in good academic standing with their school and team,
-
actively participate in at least one official FIRST event,
-
actively display Gracious Professionalism,
-
actively embody FIRST Core Values: Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun.
