Tech Mixer

The Tech Mixer will be located in the concourse on Friday from 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM as well as Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM.  The focus of the Tech Mixer is to provide hands-on, interactive demonstrations that give participants and spectators a glimpse of real-world applications of science and technology. Schools offering FIRST Scholarships are encouraged to exhibit and educate participants and the general public about STEM-based majors and careers at their institutions.

Teams will connect with other teams to race to BINGO by finding fun trivia items like: the person who traveled the farthest to be here, the team that has attended Championship the most times, the team with the most siblings on it, and more! Get ready to meet new friends, learn cool facts, and earn bragging rights. Pick up your BINGO card at Pit Admin and return it once completed to be entered into a prize drawing!etition field.  Drive teams are asked to sit in the stands for the meeting.  Teams can submit questions using the button below. 

Social Media Wall

Be part of the action both on and off the field! Share your experiences, team moments, and competition highlights by tagging us and using #ChesapeakeChamps2025. Select posts will be displayed live on the big screen throughout the event. Show off your team spirit, celebrate your achievements, and inspire others by making your mark on the Social Media Wall!

Tiara Friday

FIRST knows there’s a place for everyone in STEM, and on Tiara Friday, we celebrate the amazing women in STEM by donning our best tiaras! Whether it’s a traditional tiara, a creative DIY crown, or a futuristic headpiece, show your support and take part in this fun FIRST tradition. A tiara-making station will be available in the concourse, or bring your favorite from home! Share your Tiara Friday moments on social media using #TiaraFriday and #ChesapeakeChamps2025.

DIVE Scavenger Hunt

Embark on the DIVE Scavenger Hunt, where teams will complete tasks, meet event partners, and answer trivia questions to complete a passport. Completed passports can be submitted at Pit Admin to enter a raffle for exciting prizes. This is a great opportunity to engage with the event, explore new ideas, and discover unique STEM innovations!

Passing the Torch: Graduating Senior Event

Attention all 2025 graduating seniors! You're invited to a special event on Saturday, April 5th from noon to 1:00 PM to connect with alumni and receive your exclusive alumni pin. Come celebrate this milestone and let the alumni welcome you into the next exciting chapter as you graduate high school!  The event will take place in the Chesapeake lounge.

The Pit Area

Teams will be assigned a 9-foot by 9-foot space.  Team cannot set up tables, chairs, or other displays anywhere other than their assigned pit area.  

Only teams that request a pit table using the request form at least one week before the event will receive one.

Safety Glasses

Teams are asked to bring safety glasses for all their team members and supporters.  Loaner safety glasses will not be available at the event. 

Practice Fields

Two practice field areas like those found at District events will be available for team use during the event.  Teams can visit the practice field table to sign up for a time slot.  Teams are only able to reserve one time slot at a time.  Per section 14.6 of the manual, practice fields cannot be used for full field or multi game piece autonomous modes.  A reminder that per rule E601, teams will not be allowed to use the practice field until they have passed inspections.

Driver's Meeting

A Drivers’ meeting will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM on the competition field.  Drive teams are asked to sit in the stands for the meeting.  Teams can submit questions using the button below. 

Safety All-Star

The safety captains are invited to participate in the Safety All-Star program per the Safety Manual.  Teams will receive the nomination cards from Pit Amin.  Safety captain meetings will be held at 10:00 AM each day on the concourse behind section 125.

NASA Machine Shop

Machine shop services will be available thanks to NASA.  Their mobile machine shop will be set up outside the venue and accessible through the loading doors.  A mentor should accompany students out to the machine shop.  Please visit the Machine Shop table in the Pit for more details.

Judging

Judging will proceed similarly to the District Events with judge interviews in the team pit areas with just a few exceptions:

  • Only winners of the District event Engineering Inspiration, Impact, and Rookie All-Star will qualify for those awards at the DCMP.

  • Interviews will be scheduled for those three awards & Dean’s List by the Judge Advisor.  

    • Engineering Inspiration interviews will occur on Saturday, April 5th

    • Impact Award interviews will occur on Saturday, April 5th

    • Dean’s List District Semi-finalists interviews will occur on Sunday, April 6th

    • Rookie All-Star interviews will occur Sunday, April 6th

The interview schedule and locations will be posted at Pit Admin by Friday at lunch.  Interviews will begin on Saturday morning.  Teams should talk to the Pit Admin Supervisor if they have a conflict with their interview time.

Prayer Room

A prayer room will be made available for prayer times each day in the private box behind section 125.

Seating and ADA Access

Seating is accessible from the concourse level of the Center, on the second level.  Stairs to the pit area will be available on each side of the viewing area.  ADA seating is available along the concourse.  Elevator access between the concourse and main level is available immediately to the right on the concourse when entering from the lobby.  We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact the event manager, Anne Shade ahead of the event.

Quiet Room

A quiet space will be available at the District Championship in the private box behind section 121.  The space will be available during the following hours and will consist of some tables and chairs removed from the noise of the main arena.  

  • Friday and Saturday - 8:30 AM until 6:30 PM

  • Sunday- 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM

 
To help provide adult supervision of the quiet room, mentors are asked to provide a two-hour time block if they are able.  Those providing support should have completed their YPP certification or be willing to do so before the event.

Parking

Parking is available onsite for free in the parking lots highlighted below.  The lots are not secured so teams are encouraged to not leave anything of value in vehicles. Overnight parking for trailers will be located in the parking lot marked below.

Entrance

All teams and guests can enter using the Main Entrance. Please not, no outside food & drink will be allowed in. 

Load in & out

Team load-in will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 3rd.  The pits will open at that time and teams will be able to set up their pits and start the inspection process.  

  • Teams will NOT be limited to only 5 per team.  

  • Please keep in mind that not all venue spaces will be available during this timeframe so teams are asked to keep numbers reasonable.

  • At least one adult team mentor must be present at all times when students are onsite.

  • Teams: Please be sure to bring your driver buttons from your previous events. 

Loading door access will be available until 9:00 PM on Thursday and will again be available from 8:00 am - 10:00 am on Friday for team load-in.

 

Volunteers will be available in the load-in area to direct traffic.  Teams are asked to arrive in the direction marked to make this process as efficient as possible.

 

The same process as load-in is expected to be followed during load-out.

Lunch Pre-Orders

Box lunches are available for pre-order for $13.50 per box.  Each box includes chips, cookie, and a bottle of water.  The box options include

  • Turkey and provolone on pretzel roll

  • Ham and Swiss on pretzel roll

  • Fresh veggies and hummus wrap

  • Cheeseburger on brioche bun

  • All beef ¼ lb. hot dog on brioche bun


All orders must be submitted by March 28, 2025, via email to the contact information provided in the form. Please submit only one
order form per team per day.

 

Notification of pick-up time and location will be provided the day before the event. All Payments are due by April 1, 2025, made by check payable to The Show Place Arena.

Concessions

Concessions will be available during the Chesapeake Championship. Concessions are provided by Show Place Arena.

Please keep in mind that outside food will not be permitted into the Arena at any point during the event.  Teams may bring single use bottled water during load-in through the loading dock only.  Concessions will be available during the length of the event.

During the SUBMERGED℠ Season, FIRST LEGO League teams will use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings and ideas to the surface as they “sea” into the future.

FIRST® LEGO® League guides youth through STEM learning and exploration at an early age. From Discover, to Explore, and then to Challenge, students will understand the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way.
