Essential Steps to Competing at a Qualifier
At FIRST Chesapeake, we aim to inspire young minds through mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills. Our programs go beyond robotics; they build confidence, foster leadership, and nurture future innovators. Let’s dive in!
Step 1: Register with FIRST Inspires & FIRST Chesapeake
Before you can get your feet wet, you’ll need to register with both FIRST Inspires and FIRST Chesapeake. These registrations are your tickets to compete at two (yes, two!) FTC Qualifiers during the INTO THE DEEP season. Keep your timeline handy—this is your first dive.
District Registration Opens: May 15, 2024
Important Note: You must complete registration with FIRST Inspires before signing up with FIRST Chesapeake. Only then will you be able to participate in FTC Qualifiers and make a splash!
Step 2: Qualifier Selection I – September 12-16, 2024
The first wave of Qualifier Selection opens September 12 at noon. With half of the available seeds per Qualifier being released, you’ll have 5 days to select one event where your team will compete. This is your first opportunity to secure a spot and start charting your course for success.
Event Selection Deadline: September 16 at noon
Heads up! Your head coach will receive notification of your team’s first placement by September 18. Keep an eye on those inboxes—it’s your first confirmation that you're heading into uncharted territory.
Step 3: Qualifier Selection II – September 19-23, 2024
Missed the first wave? No worries! On September 19 at noon, we’ll release the second half of the available seeds per Qualifier. You’ll once again have 5 days to select a second Qualifier event for your team. This is your chance to secure that second competition and double your opportunities to make a splash this season.
Event Selection Deadline: September 23 at noon
Your head coach will be notified of your second placement by September 25.
Step 4: Lock In – October 1, 2024
By October 1, your competition schedule will be locked in. But, if you’re not happy with your event placements, there’s a short window for trading events between September 25 and September 30. However, trades are only possible if you can find another team willing to swap with you. There’s no capacity to add more spots to any Qualifier, so make sure to strategize with your team early!
